The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
